The first 3 books are superb. Unfortunately, in the 4th and 5th ones, Roy Dotrice seems to have forgotten his voicings for some of the characters. The shifts in perspective aren’t as clear, and some accents change altogether from previous books. Still, there’s no better way to experience Game of Thrones than on audio.

George RR Martins style is very different from most writers where he doesn’t constrain the plot to developing original characters. Some of them die while others live on, but Westeros is always a journey meeting new people who may become central to the plot.
Roy Dotrice’s voice is also very beautiful, and it’s nice to listen through this type of epic tale. If you look closely he even stars in a few episodes of the HBO series!
